We are thinking of doing our own flower arranging for the wedding to save money. Yesterday I went through the list of flowers we would need and found the pricing on some wholesale sites (Sam’s and 50Flowers). The total came to about $1600 for my bouquet, 7 BMs bouquets, boutonnieres for all guys, corsages, centerpieces (most are just single flowers in bud vases) and a few small other things. Is this a good price or would we be better off going to a florist and having them do the labor (would the price be much different?)?

That seems high, but it depends on what kind of flowers you are getting, If you want a bunch of peonies then it is going to cost a lot more $$.
I priced out roses, carnations and some filler flowers for 15 centerpieces, bridal boquet, 5 bridesmaids, 8 groomsmen and some random leftover arrangements to scatter around and mine came out to $550, maybe 650 if I get more filler flowers…
I say look around some more for some other prices… but it does depend on what kind of flowers you are getting…

I think it depends on the types of flowers too – but 1600 is expensive for bulk DIY you could probably spend about that much with a professional florist.
I chose to go the DIY route and while i wasnt using flowers for centerpeices i bought enough roses for about 200 dollars from sams for my bouquet, 5 Bridesmaid or Best Man bouquets and 8 Bouts.

Oh wow, I have a much higher price than that! I definitely need to keep looking.
It’s a tough battle–you want to have beautiful flowers at your wedding, but in the end they die and nobody really remembers what kind of flower was on the table.

I think your quote of $1600 is high too. What kind of flowers are you ordering?

If you live in or near San Diego it would definitley be worth your while to take a trip to the LA flower market!!! I am purchasing 350 black magic roses for less than $200 from a vendor there. They have amazing prices. So worth the drive.
