I’m an avid board-stalker! I loooove looking at everyone’s beautiful rings!
So, my boyfriend and I have been together 5 years and have recently started looking at rings, I’ve decided on princess cut – however although I don’t want one too low, I don’t want anything that sticks up too much?
I was wondering if any of you lovely ladies with princess cuts (or similar) could post some side-profile pictures of your rings?
Huge thanks guys!! xXx

Oh and I meant to say – Any photos side-profile on your hand would be great! And I love details (ring size, carat size etc….. mostly out of curiosity!)

Hi! When my husband proposed to me, he gave me the most beautiful 1 carat princess cut solitaire ring… so beautiful. For our wedding day, I’d picked out a simple white gold band to match the solitaire. Well, we’ve been married for just over 4 months now and my poor band is already pretty scuffed up, and honestly, I didn’t prefer the look of two rings. For Christmas, my husband and i decided to pick out a new setting for my diamond, and I found the most gorgeous setting at Jared. My total ring weight now is 2 carats… (we used the diamond he gave me and the new 1 carat setting we chose) and I wear it alone because the style could pass as two rings. Love it so much, but I did love my solitaire also! Good luck with the ring hunt and with your future together!
Photos: the pictures I took with my phone are blurry so I found a picture from the store of my ring also… also, you can see on the paved sides is a little sliver of rose gold. I thought that was the neatest touch 🙂

Mine is about as low as a solitaire can get. My husband bought it from BlueNile.com. The bottom of the diamond is actually inside the band a bit. It’s 1.4 carats. I have a 2mm e-ring band and a 1.8mm wedding band. Mine is almost exactly like this pics from BlueNile except that I have an extra support about halfway up the setting…a thin bar than runs across all 4 sides.
Here are the links to the site.

Mine is a cathedral setting so it sticks up a bit higher than most (we’re getting a new setting that will be a bit lower) but here is how high mine is. (sorry for the huge pics!)

Mine’s got a halo, but it’s pretty low. I didn’t want it to stick up too high either.

Sorry, I don’t have one from the side, but it doesn’t stand up too much.

Mine! Set nice and low so I’m not banging it into stuff!

Thanks for all the photos ladies, such beautiful rings!!! – keep ’em coming!!!!
@Miss Oates: What made you decide to change your setting? Do you have difficulty with it being so high? It is GORGEOUS though, no matter how high it is!!
Yours is beautiful – one of my best friends has the Tiffany princess cut and it is beautiful (and what I’ve had my eye on) however I kinda want something different now she has it!!
Here is a link to the ring I’ve fallen for (although slightly concerned with the height) – I’d welcome your knowledgeable opinions!!

@LadyWales: I love the ring you linked to! I think the fact that its partially “sunken” into the band, give you the illusion of a high set stone, but without all the extra height sitting above the shank.
The below pictures are of my ring right after casting (still has to have milgrain and diamonds added to band), as well as the ring we modeled mine after. I chose to have a basket set custom designed because I wanted what appeared to be a high setting, but not so high that I cant run aroudn without banging it on everything..

My solitaire is from Blue Nile (http://www.bluenile.com/solitaire-diamond-engagement-ring-setting_3074), and it is set pretty low, but I love it. It’s good for me so that I won’t bang it around quite as much. Good luck on your search and update us on what you choose!

@prncss47: Wow your ring looks like it’s gonna be amazing, and as you say, not too high set, which is what I’m after! I’m scared of banging into things too – I’m always breaking jewellery because I get it caught on things!
Your ring is about the height I want I think (and totally gorgeous!!) How did you find dealing with Blue Nile?
Thanks for everyone’s help – keep the pictures coming, even of round solitaires, as it’s the height of the setting that I’m worried about so I suppose it doesn’t really need to be just Princess cuts 🙂 Oh and if anyone gets a chance I’d love some opinions on the ring I am currently lusting after!! @Katie1359: STUNNING…who did that setting?? It’s absolutely amazing. I actually am looking for ways to reset a princess cut diamond from my first marriage and where it as a right hand ring. This would be perfect! (Except I would use blue sapphires and diamonds in the shanks).

Mine sticks up about a centimeter and a half but the sides are the most beautiful part!
