Hi!  When my husband proposed to me, he gave me the most beautiful 1 carat princess cut solitaire ring… so beautiful.  For our wedding day, I’d picked out a simple white gold band to match the solitaire.  Well, we’ve been married for just over 4 months now and my poor band is already pretty scuffed up, and honestly, I didn’t prefer the look of two rings.  For Christmas, my husband and i decided to pick out a new setting for my diamond, and I found the most gorgeous setting at Jared.  My total ring weight now is 2 carats… (we used the diamond he gave me and the new 1 carat setting we chose) and I wear it alone because the style could pass as two rings.  Love it so much, but I did love my solitaire also!  Good luck with the ring hunt and with your future together!

Photos:  the pictures I took with my phone are blurry so I found a picture from the store of my ring also… also, you can see on the paved sides is a little sliver of rose gold.  I thought that was the neatest touch 🙂

Mine is about as low as a solitaire can get.  My husband bought it from BlueNile.com.  The bottom of the diamond is actually inside the band a bit.  It’s 1.4 carats. I have a 2mm e-ring band and a 1.8mm wedding band.  Mine is almost exactly like this pics from BlueNile except that I have an extra support about halfway up the setting…a thin bar than runs across all 4 sides.

Here are the links to the site.

Mine is a cathedral setting so it sticks up a bit higher than most (we’re getting a new setting that will be a bit lower) but here is how high mine is. (sorry for the huge pics!)

Mine’s got a halo, but it’s pretty low. I didn’t want it to stick up too high either.

Sorry, I don’t have one from the side, but it doesn’t stand up too much.

Mine!  Set nice and low so I’m not banging it into stuff!

@LadyWales: I love the ring you linked to! I think the fact that its partially “sunken” into the band, give you the illusion of a high set stone, but without all the extra height sitting above the shank.

The below pictures are of my ring right after casting (still has to have milgrain and diamonds added to band), as well as the ring we modeled mine after. I chose to have a basket set custom designed because I wanted what appeared to be a high setting, but not so high that I cant run aroudn without banging it on everything..

@Katie1359:  STUNNING…who did that setting??  It’s absolutely amazing.  I actually am looking for ways to reset a princess cut diamond from my first marriage and where it as a right hand ring. This would be perfect!  (Except I would use blue sapphires and diamonds in the shanks).

Mine sticks up about a centimeter and a half but the sides are the most beautiful part!
