@SR:  I would say try them both on for sure. I have a rectangular radiant and after trying on shapes over and over I figured anything rectangular looks best on my hand. I think princess and radiant can have great light return when cut well 🙂

I’d go with radiant just because a princess is more likely to chip.

I love longer stones over sqaure ones and almost chose a radiant myself so that gets my vote.

I’m biased because I have a radiant and love it.  I looked at princess cuts, but didn’t like them for three reasons.  1). it seems like EVERYONE (who doesn’t have a round) has one, 2). I don’t like the gigantic prongs that stick out (at least on the ones I saw) way beyond the shape of the stone, and 3). I didn’t like when I heard that the corners can chip easily.

Someone also mentioned not being a fan of the bowtie….that comes in any fancy shape (anything other than round), not just in a radiant so you do have to be mindful when looking and be aware that it is almost unavoidable in elongated cuts.

I’m also bias because i love my Radiant!  I love the crushed ice sparkle and the fact that not many people have that shape 😉

@SR:  That’s what made me change my mind- I used to want a princess until everyone I know got one.  If you do decide on a princess, you could get it kite set, to be different!  Let us know how it goes!

i don’t like sharp edges/corners, so the radiant would be my choice.

Radiant! I love my ring, no one I know in real life has one and it sparkles in an increble way. We got an ideal cut diamond, so there is no bowtie.

I originally thought I wanted a princess cut, but on a whim tried on an emerald cut stone and loved how it looked on my long fingers.  Thus begun my quest for a rectangular radiant.  I also actually prefer the brilliant style facets in the radiant to the princess.  Keep in mind I’m starting with a radiant cut CZ in my setting, but this pic gives a good idea.
