Hold up – I had no idea that priscilla of boston was owned by david’s bridal. Mind blown. Anyway, it’s sad to see them closing, I especially love Melissa Sweet dresses. Anyone know if Melissa Sweet or any other POB line will be continued elsewhere?

edit: I just saw the posts above describing that David’s doesn’t actually own them and whatnot. Either way, it’s crazy that they’re linked.

nah, not that crazy. Companies get bundled all the time – both are wedding gown brands so it makes sense in the bigger picture. There’s lots of mergers that happen. Figure that the majority of gowns purchased in the U.S. are manufactured in China at the same sweat shops -it’s all relative.

@melodicsighs1: I was wondering the same thing. I really enjoy Melissa Sweet designs. Hope she is able to continue/the brand is able to live on.

Gotta make sure to save any dresses I like to my USB drive for upcoming dress shopping before the site is shut down.

Sad times!

Melissa had her own company before, so I could see her going back to having her own salon(s).

Well I hope they will be selling dresses in the store for like 75% off or something

This just breaks my heart. I’m a PoB bride and have had nothing but wonderful experiences with their salons! And their dresses are simply breathtaking. I feel like they offer such beautiful gowns for brides. I’m actually picking up my dress tomorrow, and I feel like it will be bittersweet. 🙁

Omg… I’m seriously in tears right now!!! I just bought my dress 3 weeks ago and it was expected to arrive in March. A million things going through my head right now. I know they said they will still put the same attention to all their dresses, but what if they rush it and it ends up looking horrible. I’m calling the salon 1st thing in the morning to see if I can cancel my order… I CANT BELIEVE THIS! If they can’t cancel my order now I have to find someone to do my alterations… This is the worst…. I feel so helpless!

I am kind of devastated by this.  I have looked for such a long, long time for bridesmaid dresses, and three of the four I picked were from POB.  I hadn’t had the girls order them yet because I was waiting until a little closer to the wedding.  Now I’m SOL??  This SUCKS.  I really wish I’d had some warning so I could go ahead and order the damn dresses.

This is making me more upset.. I am never going to get the dress I really wanted.. 🙁 I really REALLY hate David’s Bridal right now for making such a dumb decision.

I am so upset by this. My mom and sister are traveling all the way from Las Vegas week after next to see me try on Melissa Sweet’s Eze. It was in my top 3 dress picks. Now I have to contact the bridal salon and see if it’ll even still be available to try on. I never considered doing a pre-owned dress, but now I might have to if that’s the dress I pick.

I’m so devastated to hear about this.  I’m actually crying right now as I type this – back in March I tried on Melissa Sweet Gigi and it was the one.  I got goosebumps, I didn’t want to take it off, etc.  I scheduled a follow-on appt to come back and show it to a friend in a few weeks, and then some family illness happened and we postponed the wedding.

So I waited to buy the dress, and have been dreaming about it for almost 6 months now.  And if they’re not taking any new orders, now I will never have it.  I seriously feel like throwing up.  I’m heart broken.

Sigh, I’m sorry to be so dramatic but I am SO F-ED and upset.

I went to a Priscilla of Boston store yesterday. They are selling everything at 40% off: gowns, bridesmaid dresses, veils, accessories. So my advice: if you live near a salon — and are a street size 4-10 — I’d go check it out! From what I saw, their sample gowns are in pristine condition. I ended up walking away with a dress to wear to a friend’s wedding (not white, of course!).

I also heard the salesgirls talking to people on the phone. They promised that all of the existing orders will be fulfilled by January — and, if you only have submitted a partial bridesmaid dress order, you can finish it for another couple of weeks. Personally, I wouldn’t be too worried.

Why aren’t they saying they are selling everything for 40% off! I’d be there in a heartbeat as I live about 5 mins from one.. and have been eyeing this darn dress.. but couldn’t get it until I sold another one.
