There’s a great dance studio in LA called the Dance Doctor. So funny! We actually went there for one of our first dates! Anyway, we’re dancing to an oldie but goodie Blue Moon, for our first dance, and are planning on winging it. It’s $75 for a private 45-minute lesson. Do you guys think it’s worth it to get a few things choreographed? We could also do a group lesson for $30 but won’t be able to put our song on. Oh and PS – the wedding is NEXT Sat.! Haha.

We started our private lessons 2 weeks before the wedding, and had 5 total. The dance worked out quite well, and people loved the dance. The one thing I would strongly encourage all brides considering dance lessons to investigate is to make sure that a private lesson means that you have the ballroom to yourself. We had a “private” lesson with our own instructor, but the dance studio also had two other couples taking lessons on the floor at the exact same time! It was really hard to focus on our dance, plus we couldn’t have our music on all the time. Our dance took up the whole dance floor, so we kept crossing into other people’s dance space – certainly not what we had thought we would be getting. So make sure you ask the right questions before signing up for dance lessons and learn from my mistake.

My lessons were 60 each with Dance562 in long beach and well worth it. However we did 6 lessons and they were much needed with only about 4 choreographed bits. Since it is less than 2 weeks away I would start now and 75 probably isn’t too unreasonable. Try to do at least 3 lessons. Good thing is being so close you have less chance of forgetting the moves 🙂
