i have an appointment to have PRK next Friday! I am interested in hearing everyone’s experience and recovery time. My prescription is only -1.5, so it’s not that bad but I can’t drive or enjoy the outdoors without contacts. My cornea is actually very thick, but they want me to do PRK because I had some curvature – they made me wait 6 months to ensure there was no change, which would indicate problem. I really wanted lasik, but I am so tired of contacts and I trust the drs.

i had PRK done! the actual procedure took less than a minute. I think I got it done on a Thursday and I stayed in my room with the blinds closed for the first three days. By Monday, I was fine to go to work with minor discomfort. I had dry eyes in that early period so I was constantly using eyedrops but now everything is fine (been about 2.5 years). one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Honestly, the recovery period of the first 3 days was the worst pain I’ve ever experienced in my life, and my eyes have been super dry since then…but it’s still the best thing I’ve ever done! I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Thank you! There are some real horror stories on line :/ fortunately even the worst ones (liking prk to child birth!) still say they’d do it all over again.
