Random question-do either one of you claim head of household on your tax return since you both have children and it would appear you are single parents in the laws eye?

 I completely agree with:KatieBklyn:  while I can see the point in not needing a piece of paper (not to belittle marriages here) to define your commentment to each other, you do need it to difine it to other people, and those people can tell you whether you have the right to do something on behalf of your husband/wife.  For me and my husband, we forgot to sign the papers on our wedding day, and had to go hunt the officiant down later so we could all sign.  The officiant asked me which day then was going to be our anniversary, and of course I said the day we said our vows before God, friends, and family.
