Random question – which side of the family comes first for the processional, when announced at the reception, and for the first dances (does the bride/father dance happen first or groom/mother)? And not sure if this even makes a difference, but both sets of parents are contributing the same to the wedding financially, and my fiance and I are paying the rest (approx 50%).
Thanks in advance!

I think that typically the groom’s parents are announced before the brides parents at both the ceremony and reception. I think this is a place of honor issue. (The later someone goes or is announced the higher the honor, (hence bride comes last). But I do think some of that stems from the bride’s parents paying for the wedding.
If they are both contributing the same, why not divide it? Groom’s mom gets seated before bride’s mom at ceremony. But bride’s parents get announced first at the reception. And be sure to word the invitations properly, so they feel recognized for their contribution.
