So I am certainly thinking about going and getting my colors done by a professional and then purchasing the make-up. But from those that have had their wedding or are not make-up savy… are you paying a professional to come and do your make-up on the big day or are you taking matters into your own hands and diying it?
I just want to know if paying the money to have it done professional is worth it. After all, our pictures will be all we have when the day is over and I do not want to look like a hot mess.
Thanks for the advice Bee!!!

Ok, I’m a hot durn mess when it comes to make-up (I don’t wear make-up on a regular basis, and only eyeshadow and mascara when I go out)…. I had no question in my mind that I would hire someone. I actually hired someone that did airbrush. It was the most worth it thing I’ve ever done. Not only did my makeup never ever smudge, but it was even still perfect the next day. I even thought for a minute to let my BMs do it, problem is, they know what looks good on them, not me…. I’m not going to upload a pic on here (privacy) but I’ll say this….everyone they whole night kept telling me I looked like a porcelain doll…. And I was a budget crucher type of bride (aren’t we all, lol), and as much as it pained me to see ever other dollar go out the door (except the dress, hehe), letting go of this $ was 100% worth it…..

I originally was going to DIY mine, even did “trials” and got advice from fellow Bees and was 99% good with that decision. However, I had a friend who sells Mary Kay professionally (read: for the last 15 years) offer to do it for free! So I had a trial done with her and what ended up happening is she did my stuff I wasn’t totally comfortable doing — the dramatic eye shadow (I’m normally pretty “safe” with mine), the blush color, the primer and shimmery stuff (she did foundation and lip color too, but I would’ve been fine) and I did my eyeliner and mascara. 🙂
Basically, it was nice to have another person do it but it wasn’t necessary. Granted I play with makeup a lot, I think it’s fun and I wear it almost daily. A sidenote — I also think that after having her do it for the trial I could have recreated it but wouldn’t have been quite as confident in it.
