I have a question for anyone who has used progesterone to induce a period. I am currently on CD60, with no ovulation yet (I’ve had cycles of 4 months, 5 months, and 2 months in the past year – with ovulation).
How long after you started taking the progesterone did you get your period?
Here is my concern – should I just stick it out with my natural hormones since I am already 2 months into it and hope to O soon, or should I scrap this cycle and start taking the meds now so I can start the Clomid?

Hey! When I took it to induce a period I’d take it for 10 days (prometrium) and usually AF shows 2-4 days after that. Personally, I’d start it now so you can move in to a productive Clomid cycle. Good luck!

I’m much less patient. I’ll take it 30 days into my cycle. My cycle can be off and on regular, and when it is its around 30 days, so I figure if its past that, nothing’s happening.

Ok ladies, thanks for responding! I was just hoping that my cycles were getting shorter, because the 2 month cycle was my last one… but I guess that is not happening. So I guess I’m going to enjoy the weekend and then start the progesterone next week!
Did you have any bad side effects?

I’ve taken Provera once, 5mg for 10 days. My period came 10 days after finishing the last pill. (I’m not sure if it took so long because I was only on 5mg instead of 10, or because my hormones are really out of whack. Probably both.) I had horrible cramps leading up to it, but otherwise no side effects. Good luck! I know how painfully annoying long cycles can be.

Agreeing on the taking them sooner rather than later thing. If I don’t take progesterone, my periods are no-shows for months and months.
10 days of tablets, period usually arrives 2-4 days later. 🙂

Thanks for the encouragement to start the Provera. I started a couple of days ago and I’m really excited to get things going! I’m on 10mg for 10 days.

I’ve done the Provera before Clomid. It makes me incredibly emotional, but other than that, not too bad.
