i haven’t figured all this out yet, but i have a few things for you to consider. 1.  are you going to have anybody handing them out? or will they just be sitting in basket?  because if they are just going to sit there, i think most people will walk by without even noticing it.  but if you have people handing them out more will get used.  2.  When i was a kid, i liked to have a program to follow the ceremony.  And all my sisters did too, i felt important for some reason.  And i was the type that saved all those kinds of things.  You know your guests best, but i just wanted to give some food for thought.

I made half the amount of RSVP’d guests.  We had no leftovers – I didn’t even get one!

I’ve done one each but having said that they wont be as snazzy as you US bees make them. I’m just printing them on ivory paper and that’s all I’m doing to them.

We’re inviting 83 people and I plan to print off 50-60 programs. They’re DIY so if we have extra, it’s no biggie.

I haven’t figured this out for myself yet. I do know that I was in charge of handing out programs at a wedding once, and the bride told me “there are fewer programs than guests so try to pace it.” We ran out of programs with lots of guests still to arrive, and it was a little awkward.

I always thought it was one per person, like when you go to a play.

@Mrs.tobe:  We had approximately 175 guests RSVP and we purchased 100 programs.  We had about 25 left over, so I’m thinking half of the amount RSVP’d would be sufficient.

P.S. Be sure to save a few for yourself.

I’ll be doing one per person and having someone set them on the chairs beforehand.

For our programs, I am going to order 100.  I’m also going to have two hostesses handing them out as everyone comes in.  I would actually like to have extra to display in our wedding china cabinet when I set it up so a few extra would probably look better than a single one.  Our programs also will be printed front and back.  The front will be a copy of the invitation and the back will be the actual program in case anyone has lost or misplaced their original.

@Mrs.tobe: Good price and I know about the paper – the invites was my worst.

Its not a specific answer to your question, but we did a “program chalkboard” that was on a tripod outside the ceremony location and saved the cost and the paper.  The chalkboard was a large frame that we painted with chalkboard paint on the board that fits in the back. We removed the glass.
