I think it would be nice to have programs. It gives your BMs and GMs recognition and lets the guests know what’s going on. It’s really easy to make your own. Just type it up in Word with a pretty font. Make one side a cover page and the rest of the info on another and print them on some nice paper.

@MrsKaySea:  I agree.  I like to have a program so that I know who everyone is, plus I think it recognizes not only your wedding party, but also your parents and grandparents.

I’m doing mine on the extremely cheap side – leftover cardstock, printed 2-sided (wedding party on one side, wedding timeline on the other).  Cut the sheets in half (two per page) and use a fancy corner cut on the corners.  I should be able to do 175 of them for under $10.

My DIY programs were actually one of my favorite projects. Everyone seemed to appreciate them and I am glad we had them. I do not think it is always 100% a must have but a nice touch absolutely!

I got a kit from Michael’s, and put two of our favourite e-pics on it.  We also put a nice thank you for our parents on there too.

Darling Husband is Catholic, so my non-Catholic family (and half of his family) needed a program to know what was going on.   That being said, our ceremony was only about 25 minutes long.

I just did them for a keepsake. They were super cheap, just cardstock from Michael’s, 2 sided cut in half with a ribbon on it. It cost maybe $5? We aren’t having the order of the ceremony, just who’s who and special thanks.

I am doing them myself since it gives recognition to the bridal party as well as lets people follow along who may not be familiar with the service and I got a kit on clearance at Michaels.  The total cost will come to $30.00…

The reasons some people don’t do them (and they’ve been discussed here on WB) is: the cost, that people don’t keep them usually and most of the time they are the last thing to be done and brides just can’t be bothered 🙂

I agree- I like them, and in the scheme of things, they’re pretty easy to make.  I used Publisher, and included information about how we know our bridal party members, who the readers are and what they’re reading, what the response to the responsorial psalm is (Catholic wedding), and a general thank you note to our guests. 🙂 I think it’s definitely worth it.

I don’t think programs are a necessity and I wasn’t going to do them, but then my mom insisted that no one was going to know what was going on because our wedding is in the afternoon and ends at 5:00 pm so people would be confused. I did them and I’m glad I did because we do have a ‘different from the norm’ wedding. It also gave us a chance to incorporate a silly quotation.
