I’m trying to figure the size of a screen to rent for our slideshow. I have about 200 guests and the room is 78′ X 78′. My venue manager is clueless. Can anyone make any recommendations? The choices of the screen sizes are 8′ X 8′ or 9′ X 12′.
Also, any suggestions for a successful set up?

We asked for or DJ’s advice about this (he also coincidentally works for the A/V department of the hotel where we’re having our reception), as we had the choice between an 8′ screen or a 10′ screen (the latter being double the price of the former).
He said the 8′ was plenty for our reception hall (which is quite large but has a max capacity of 120, so definitely smaller than yours), and is really easy to put up/take down – that is, it doesn’t have to be up all night, he can just set it up right before we want to do the slideshow. On the other hand, the 10′ screen takes 2 people to set up (so it would probably have to be up all night), needs to sit on an 8′ table, and needs to be 25′ from the projector.
So you might want to check on the requirements of the screens and see what works for your set up. With 200 guests, I would probably suggest going bigger, if it doesn’t come with all the hassle! But I am definitely not an expert. Can you ask the rental company what they think?
