I think it’s an ugly dress even if she had’ve had a piece added to cover the sheerness.  In addition, I think it looks….less than what a respectable young lady would wear.  If she were in Memphis, she probably wouldn’t have been allowed to enter her prom

Willow90:  Another 20-something geezer here.  That dress is ridiculous. NOPE.

Willow90:   I’m in my early twenties, and I agree that it’s a bit much.

If someone had showed up at prom (at my school) wearing that, they would not have been allowed in. As a matter of fact, I don’t actually know of a parent in my area who would purchase or allow their kid to go out in something like that in the first place.

I think it’s neat and mermaidy, and that if anyone should wear that dress, it should def be a 17-18 y.o. That girl has a rockin’ bod and you’re only a teenager once.

ohnatto:  I agree. I think it’s an ugly dress and I would never wear it, but I don’t think it’s that scandalous. It covers the most important bits, and she’s fit so I think if you’ve got it, flaunt it.

Willow90:  mid-twenties geezer here too and umm…yeah, no. My parents would have smacked me for even asking to wear that to my prom lol!

It got so bad at the local high school that they now have to pre approve dresses! This is why…

I’ve seen prom dresses much more revealing than this — I just don’t get it!! SMH.

But, have you guys seen the dress departments in some department stores — for teens and “young people”… the dresses look like shirts — like seriously short!!!  How do you navigate in that dress without flashing your goodies?!? CRAZY!

And parents buy these things for their daughters… it’s just cray!

Willow90:  I’m betting the parents bought the dress!

I am 25 and I teach 8th grade… you should see what the 13 year olds wear for their “grad dance”!!! Last year’s fashion was strapless sweetheart with the bodices all blinged out, and then the skirts were a fluffy tutu that barely covered the bum.

When I was 13 I wore a cute knee length dress and wasn’t even allowed to get my hair done in an updo because it wasn’t age appropriate, lol.

HappySky7:  I see your point, and as a teacher I certainly have some strong opinions on dress codes and how they unfairly target girls. !ut disagree that this thread is slut shaming. No one is commenting on the sexual behaviour of girls! I think we are just pointing out that certain styles are in poor taste, especially for a school-associated event.
