So the recent post on promise rings and what they mean got me wondering. Is the promise ring the equivalent of your boyfriend giving you his lavaliere? His frat pin? his class ring?
Any ideas on where on the committment spectrum each of these falls?

I personally see lavaliering/pinning as a larger commitment than a promise ring. Maybe that stems from my association of promise rings with high schoolers. It may also come from the fact that the people I know who have been lavaliered/pinned were more committed and in a stronger relationship than the people I know who have gotten promise rings.
I’ve never heard of being given the class ring as a sign of commitment so I don’t have any notion of the commitment level associated with that.

I believe that getting a lavalier is the same thing as a promise ring. I think all of that depends on how traditional the school’s Greek system was though. In mine, you couldn’t get a fraternity pin unless you were engaged.
class ring= becoming bf/gf
promise ring= fraternity lavalier
engagement ring= fraternity pin
