I really like the necklace idea! I don’t know what kind of ring it is…but is it possible to make earrings out of it somehow?

I was, well kind of, but it was just a band w/ round diamonds, so I am actually going to use it as my wedding band. I like your idea of making a necklace!

I wore mine for years after i got married on my right hand but finally just put it away.  I recently gave it to my daughter who is getting married this September 🙂  It has such sentimental value because we were only 18 when i got it.

yes! my Fiance gave me a promise ring when i was 17… i’ve worn it on my left ring finger for 11 years. My engagement ring still needs to be sized so i still wear it “over” my e-ring. (looks like a wedding band pretty much!)

After we get married my wedding band will take its place and my promise ring will have a new home on my right ring finger. It almost has more value/sentiment to me than my engagement ring (and its so pretty) so i’ll never alter it in any way.

I do like the idea of making it into a pair of earrings. (if you can??) or create a necklace with it?

i have 2 (: the main diamond fell out of the first one a few months ago, so it is put away in my jewelry box. But i wear the other promise ring on my right hand ring finger. I might put it on a necklace later though.

Mine was an eternity band and I often wear it on my right hand.  I would have used it as a wedding band, but because my e-ring is platinum and the promise ring is white gold, it’s not good for them to rub against each other all the time.

I was given a promise ring about 5 months before I got my e-ring…Fiance knew it would shut me up and throw me off for the real one…we ended up trading it in towards my e-ring since he bought the e-ring at the same place and the trade in value was $1200….there was no point in having another fancy ring when I had the one I had been dreaming of.

You could always take it in to a local jeweler and see what they can come up with.  Some of the more off-beat places may be able to come up with a really unique and exciting way for you to continue to wear your promise ring.

Can you post a pic? We might be able to come up with more ideas that way.

Not to be difficult…but what kind of ring wouldn’t look right on your right hand ring finger??

I have a promise ring that I wore for 5 years, and Fiance and I have decided that we want to save it for our daughter (if we have one) and have it made into something for her.  So until that day comes, it’s in a lovely little box and sometimes I look at it and miss it a little bit!

R gave me one when we were 16 – I feel bad but I don’t know where it is! I think my parents packed it when they moved (I took it off when I got a ring for high school graduation, which I then took off for my E ring.)

My FI’s mother converted her Engagement Ring into an earring/necklace set after her husband passed away. Sounds like that’s a popular suggestion. 🙂
