I have a solitare but it is 4 prongs. I find them hardly visable most of the time. Here’s some pics of my ring.

1. Close up – see the prongs better this close up…

2. On my hand – prongs less noticable

3. Side View!

Hope this is kind of helpful πŸ™‚

Not a fan of 6 Prongs vs 4.

My First Marriage and my Solitaire ERing Diamond (just a chip of thing) was held in place with a 4 Prong Claw Setting.

This time round…

I have a 4 Prong Post Setting for the Feature Diamond in my “Cocktail Style” ERing and I LOVE it because of the clean lines, it shows off more of My Diamond, both from the top & the sides (sorry I don’t have a side shot right now)

Hope this helps (some)

Mine has four prongs, but at you can see it is also “nestled” all the way down into the setting (felt it was more secure this way) the center stone is just under 2.69 cts. (Black diamond)

Mine is 4 prongs but they are very beefy prongs. I was afraid at first that it would be way too much metal but now that its more than a picture on paper I don’t feel it takes away from the diamond at all. Sorry if the picture is huge im taking it from my iPhone.

@mrspinesol:  you asked:

Can you explain why you like 4 prongs better? (as opposed to the 6 prongs)

Solely because when it comes to Diamonds 4 looks cleaner than 6.

And in my case with 4 Post Prongs vs 6 Claw Prongs… you can see the difference here:

PHOTO # 1 – My ERing (4 Post Prongs)

PHOTO # 2 – Photo off the net (6 Claw Prongs)

I suppose that 6 Claw Prongs might be more of a want if someone had a MEGA Diamond and fearful of having the rock fall out.

Lol, at under 1.0 Carats, and having worn the Bridal Set from my First Marriage for over 20 Years without incident, I’m pretty certain it would take a lot to dislodge my Feature Diamond.  So I much prefer the cleaner look over the percevied security

Hope this helps show the difference,
