krippere :  it’s beautiful and I agree you should keep it secure. I would look into resetting it into something sturdier. Hopefully the rest of the talented ring Bees will come and help. All I know is that that is not normal

Good luck, and congratulations.

I would do some research and see how much it would cost to reset it into a more secure setting.

Congratulations on your engagement!

Perhaps ask the jeweller if they could change the prongs to platinum. I have an 18k yellow gold ring but my prongs are platinum. I only have four very small delicate claw prongs to hold my oval and they have been good so far (since May).

18k gold is more maliable than other kts because gold is a very soft metal. The more gold the more bendable it is. I would take it to the jewelers and have then switch out the head with a lower gold kt or platinum prongs

I would change your setting.  18K is relatively malleable in comparison to your other options.  All rings scuff and scratch, but not all metals are appropriate for daily wear.  If this is a ring you plan to wear all day every day and not just for special occasions, you should consider something more durable.  18K may work for a plain band or a thicker durable setting like bezel but the thinner you stretch it the more vulnerable it will be.

I had a 14k white gold 6 prong and the prongs bent 3 times in 5 months. The diamond was set very low, too. Although your diamond seems set pretty high, lowering it may help? Honestly, I changed my setting to a Tulip basket type setting because I was tired of paying to have the prongs fixed every other month ๐Ÿ™
