I was expecting a non proposal from my boyfriend–I honestly thought that when we picked up my engagement ring together that we’d be engaged and I’d start wearing the ring.
A non proposal would fit in perfectly with what we are as people so well. He’s not romantic and I don’t care much for traditions.
But my boyfriend wanted to propose and that warms my heart. I’m currently patiently waiting! (We agreed the proposal would happen before Valentine’s)
So I guess in a roundabout way, my boyfriend exceeded any and all my expectations!

hopefulfuturemrs : Agreed! I’m a bit more straightforward and honestly miss most hints. I can see guys resonating with this too and can understand that there’s pressure, whether it be from us or society etc. Never hurts to have clear communication. I’d just say it how you said it here!
My fiancé and I are very open and we talk about everything. Some time after visiting the jeweler he asked me about him proposing and if there were things I was really not ok with (so he could guarantee a “yes” haha). I told him the idea of a large public proposal made me really uncomfortable. I also didn’t want a photographer. He proposed two months after in a historic garden during a trip. It was a public setting but it was just us two on a bench by the lake in the garden. A kind stranger who realized we’d just gotten engaged took our pic 🙂
