Alright ladies, time to share your stories!!!! How did your proposal happen!? Were you surprised/did you know?!?!
My fiance totally surprised me! I knew it would happen because we have been together for 7 1/2 years! I worked a 12hr shift that night and got off work at 7:30am Christmas Eve and had to drive home with my sister. He sent me a text that told me a surprise was waiting for me on my kitchen table…an hour and a half away!!! I raced home (sorry for any law enforcement readers) and there was an envelope with “Instructions” written on it. It told me to relax, take a nap but I was going on a scavenger hunt. 7 clues for 7 years. It was 9:30am and I couldn’t start until 1pm!!! i was dying! Finally I started my hunt and at each station was a yellow rose (one of my favs). THe clues were hidden all over our town at locations that were special for us! The last stop was at a park we ice skate at every winter, he was standing on the bridge that goes over the pond. He told me he had my Christmas present and I just smiled. He handed me a package that was not in the shape of a little box…turns out he custom made M&Ms (my fav) that said, “will you marry me?” on them. He dropped down to one knee and pulled out my ring!!!! I cried and started jumping up and down!!!! I love it!!!!

He actually had something entirely different planned but this seemed more appropriate since we met on Halloween. We had just gotten back from a nice dinner at a wine bar and a Halloween party. I was dressed as a squirrel and I was the middle of trying to figure out how on earth I was going to get the tail of my costume off when he came in and got down on one knee.

love that story! 🙂
We were in Jamaica, on a hammock on the first sunny day after the hurricane that graced us with its presence.. he just asked the question, out of the blue! I was so surprised, but delighted, and we both were so overwhelmed that we really just took it easy that day. it was so bizarre for the rest of vacation, feeling like i had a huge secret to tell everybody. But very romantic, and we went backk and visited there again this year.

Last winter I was sick all the time because I was working with little kids! I got everything they had! He made reservations for us to try out a new swanky restaurant one night…but I came down with the flu. I was so disappointed that I was sick again, and I was so frustrated! I was laying in bed crying and whining about how much I sucked for ruining our date night and whatnot…. I also looked a hot mess, I had a fever, vomitting, etc… I kept apologizing for missing our reservation. He said how much he loves taking care of me and wants to care for me for the rest of his life! He got on one knee at the edge of the bed and asked me to marry him.
It was really sweet. Granted he was holding my hair back about 20 minutes later. But being propsed to while you’re at your worst is…wonderful!

First off, congrats and welcome!
Here is our story (copied from my bio because I don’t feel like typing it again lol):
I knew that my husband had my engagement ring for over a year. We were planning on getting engaged on a trip my dad was taking us on for my high school graduation (2005). But we had a fight and I ended up getting sick so we couldn’t go on the trip.
Over the following year, I tried to not think about the fact that he had the engagement ring and I didn’t know when it was going to happen. We rescheduled the trip for the next summer (2006). When we were on the trip, we came across 3 different weddings.
On the day after my birthday, we were in Cairns, Australia and we walked down to the waterfront to look for some place to eat dinner. We stopped by a church (passing another wedding) and sat down on some rocks. I was beginning to think that it would never happen and was sort of upset. He leaned over to kiss me and while we were kissing, I felt him reaching into his pocket.
I opened my eyes and there in his hand was a jewelry box. He asked me if I would marry him and I said “I will!”
The cute thing was that he had been planning it for my birthday the entire time (because we were across the date line, it actually was my birthday back home).

Hubby tricked me into thinking we were early for dinner reservations so he decided we should walk around a park that was conveniently nearby… lol We had never been there before (which he later told me he did on purpose so that it becomes it’s own special place in our memories). It was an amazing early October day around sunset with the Statue of Liberty in the background. We walked through a garden-y part on a little gravel path and even as he was pulling out the box I was totally oblivious of what he was doing. he totally made me think it was earrings. even as he pulled the box out and said he had a gift for me, he was all like “but you already bought yourself earrings didn’t you” because like a week or two prior I had mentioned needing to get new earrings and I saw some on sale so I got them. Then finally he got down on one knee and opened the box and asked me to marry him! I said “are you serious??” lol TOTALLY a complete surprise. Like an I didn’t think I would get a proposal for another 3 or 4 years kind of surprised lol It was perfect for us. When I called my mom to tell her shortly after, she also said “are you serious??” lol

Beautiful stories ladies! My fiance and I currently go to school at WVU, but we both went to Ohio State for undergrad. We decided to go back to Ohio State for a football game (vs. Minnesota) and decided to get to campus early to visit all our old haunts. We eventually stopped at our little spot where we used to have picnics at… A spot we call “our bench”. We even toyed with carving our initials in at graduation, but I’m sure that would have been frowned upon by the university, haha. But anyways, we were reminiscing about how we met living across the hall from each other in the dorms and all the memories we had at Ohio State. He first asked what my favorite memory was, and I responded that it was going to get donuts at 3 in the morning after staying up late talking about everything. I then asked what his favorite memory was and he responded, “All of those that you mentioned sound nice, but the best memories haven’t happened yet.” And then he got down on one knee and proposed!! And of course, me being the type to ruin the moment asked, “Is this real?!” (which after the fact, he told me that I asked him that, it actually made him feel sick to his stomach, haha…) But I said yes and now we are happily engaged! 🙂
