I think 2 weeks is enough, it’s not ideal, but you must be so excited, I wouldn’t be able to wait. Also, if you wanted a month, who’s to say someone else wouldn’t announce somethig else?

Don’t you dare postpone a thing!  You shouldn’t change when you embark and special moments in your life because of other people – you go right on ahead as planned.  Besides, if they’re good friends then they will enjoy this planning time together and no one will feel like their thunder has been stolen.  Good luck and congrats!

Come back here to post pix of the ring once you get it!!

I thnk its fine!! They’ll have fun planning together.  I’m DYING for my sister to get engaged soon bc I want to plan stuff and shop together but she has told me her bf is reluctant to do bc he thinks for some reason that it would be stepping on our toes or bother us.. but I’ve reassured them a hundred times that I WANT them to get engaged soon!

You could always tell the friend what you’re planning to do, that way when she’s surprised with her own engagement, she’ll already know it’s coming.  My Fiance told my best friend and her Fiance before he did it… I think it’s totally fine!

as a girl who’s best friend is also getting married at the same time, it is AWESOME to have someone who is also planning at the same time.

don’t worry about them being close together – they will likely be so excited for each other. they’ll have lots of girlie dates!

They’re BFFs, right? They get engaged close together, then they can plan together!

@talkderbytome:  no worries! you’ve been planning this too, it’s not fair you should have to push it back just because he mentioned it first! would he have moved it back if you’d have been the one to first say something?

if their friendship is very strong, this will only make them stronger. good luck! and introduce her to us here!

@talkderbytome: i don’t think any one should change their plans based on other people… and besides, they’ll be super excited to be engaged around the same time !

No – you don’t need to put your life on hold for other people. Hopefully the two girls would be over the moon happy for each other and not see this as competition or thunder stealing (which it isn’t).
