- Wedding: June 2015
Let me start by saying my Fiance is one sneaky guy. He had me so convinced he wasn’t going to propose until at least Christmas that I didn’t believe he was proposing until he was down on one knee and the box was open and I was certain there was a ring in it, lol.
So we have a weekly adventure to our local wine bar for a bottle of wine, cheese, crackers, and good company with other regulars. I had had the most awful week at work and was SOO ready for our evening at the wine bar with our closest friends who are a married couple. When I got home, he complimented my work dress and said I should where it out that night to the wine bar. Normally we dress casually and my work dress was a bit formal so I thought he was acting a bit weird suggesting it, and put up a bit of resistance to dressing nicely until he put on a nice button down and nice jeans…BOY AM I GLAD I CHANGED.
When we arrived at the wine bar he told me he had come by earlier to reserve a table outside (as it gets busy on fridays) and pick out a bottle of wine from the sommelier who would not be there while we were there. Very sweet! So we sit down, our friends arrive to join us, and our waiter brought out two wine glasses with our names on them and the date….now I should have thought this was a BIG clue, but this wine shop is known to have wine glasses with loyal customers names on them, and we go frequently, so even though the glasses looked different and they had the date, I went with it since there are new owners and we go so often (alright alright I’ve got a rep for being extra oblivious to details like that lol). The waiter returned a few moments later with the bottle of wine my fiance supposedly came earlier to choose. It was a custom bottle with our initials etched into a gold heart, with our anniversary date (today) and “One of many years” written accross it in gold. At that point the husband of our friend asked my fiance if he a jacket in the car, he was cold (odd I thought, it’s relatively warm out but no he couldn’t be proposing tonight…) and then his wife got up to use the restroom. At that point our waiter walked out with a wrapped gift and when I opened it it was this BEAUTIFUL framed letter with all of our pictures around the peremeter. It was letter with everything he loves about me and why he wants to spend his life with me. Quite honestly I read only 1/4 of the letter at first because i saw him reach into a bag next to him (a gift he said was for our friend’s anniversary the following week) and pulled out a box and got on one knee. I was so nervous it was just him teasing me I didn’t turn my head and make eye contact until he opened the box and I heard him whisper “Hey you :)……will you marry me?” I’m pretty sure all I said for about 10 secon was OH MY GOSH! OH MY GOSH! Of course I said a big YES!!
After I put on the ring I asked him if he asked my parents (he is a very traditional person so I knew he had I just couldn’t figure out when as they live 6 hours away) and he said he flew out for 3 hours to meet with my parents for lunch to ask (which my sister coordinated as they are divorced and so my parent’s would be surprised too 😛 ) while I was out of town visiting my grandmother.
Needless to say I feel incredibly blessed to be engaged to my best friend and other half. He is such an incredible person and I am SO SO EXCITED! 😀
Now for the stuff you all opened this for 😉
