- Wedding: December 2014
I announced on here last week that I was engaged, and the story would follow soon. Here it is!
I was hoping for a proposal over Easter weekend after giving up talking about weddings for Lent. Leading up to the weekend, he had been giving lots of hints that it was coming; however, when the weekend actually arrived, I began to get the opposite vibe! Saturday evening, we were at a gift shop when I saw wedding items, and he said, maybe that will be you within the half year.
Well, I tried to keep it together, but I ended up crying! He asked me what was wrong, and, between sobs, I said I thought he was going to propose, but that I just realized it wasn’t going to happen. He took out his phone and told me to look at it. Still crying, I looked at his phone and saw an email from an Etsy jeweler apologizing because the ring was delayed.
He then told me that he was going to propose, but that the ring wasn’t here. Then, he got down on one knee, and said, “Even though this isn’t how I planned it, and I don’t have a ring… will you marry me?” I hugged him and and he asked why I was still crying. I said now I was happy, and he asked if that was a yes!
We told our immediate families and close friends, but decided not to tell anyone else until the ring came in. This past Saturday he planned a whole day for us. After brunch, we went to the beach. During sunset, we were taking silly pictures of ourselves, and he asked me to take pictures of just him. While I was snapping pictures, he took the ring out of his pocket. I realized what was happening and put the phone down. He got down on knee and proposed again!
Then he surprised me by telling me we had reservations at a local hotel for dinner. When we got there, he told me he’d packed me a bag because we were staying the night! The hotel even gave us a bottle of champagne at check-in. So, that’s my story of how I got two proposals!
Below is the obligatory ring picture! Sorry it’s so big. I don’t know how to resize. It’s rose gold with a morganite center stone!
