Add to me to the list of holiday engagements! It happened Friday night after church. Looking back on it, that was very appropriate. We met online, and our first in-person meeting was in the lobby at my church. Yep! We went to church on our first date (which is somewhat interesting considering he’s not a Chrisitan). So him proposing after church was really meaningful.
We were opening presents. There had been a bigger present under the tree for weeks that I was so curious about. It turned out it was a Roomba (the vaccuum cleaner robot things). I was less than thrilled. He is the neat one in the relationship, so I felt like the gift was more for him than me. However, I accepted it graciously.
Well then he pulls out his cell phone and asks me if he should practice proposing in auto tune. (He has an auto tuner app on his phone.) I was 99% sure he had the ring as we had gone to his parents’ late on Christmas Eve because we were waiting for a package, and he wouldn’t tell me what it was. I had joked earlier in the night that he could propose via auto tuner.
So he does a “practice” proposal. Then he plays it back for me, and he says, “And then I’d pull the ring out like this…” and alas, he pulls the ring out!
We have an inside joke about auto tuners, so that is what that is all about. The proposal really was perfect for us because it wasn’t serious at all. One thing I always tell people about our relationship is that it is so much fun. It truly is. So a fun proposal makes sense.
I wasn’t shocked by the proposal because I knew it was coming soon. I was shocked, however, by the ring! It is not at all what I expected. The one he showed me before was very, very simple. This one is anything but!
I took the pic using my webcam, and it looks like I’m wearing the ring on my right hand. But do not fear! It is on the left hand!
