I’ve posted mine before, but I don’t mind doing it again… It is, after all, one of my favorite stories πŸ™‚

I’ll start by saying I had NO idea. We had been together over 4 years at the time. We had both talked about marriage plenty of times. And of course I made my little silly, sarcastic, smart-ass comments about when he was going to “put a ring on it”, but there was no decision made, no ring shopping.

We decided spur of the moment to go on a ski trip to W. Virginia that March. They had gotten record snow that year and extended the season. We both love to ski, so neither of us had to twist the other’s arm to jump in the truck and go.

We stayed about an hour outside of SnowShoe that Friday and drove the rest of the way up the mountain Saturday morning. FI’s behavior was not out of the ordinary whatsoever. I had no reason to suspect a thing. (FI had been to SnowShoe before, I had not)

So he pulls over at a lookout over Cupp Run and Shey’s Revenge (two of the toughest ski runs on the mountain) and asks if I’d like to take some pictures. Of course I do! So I get out, but the snow where I’m standing and what has been pushed up by the plows makes it impossible to to get a good shot. So I climb up into the back of the truck. I hadn’t paid too much attention to the fact that he had climbed up with me. I was fighting the blinding sun. Snapping photos, and as I was looking at the screen and babbling something about not getting a good shot… I saw him on one knee.

My heart stopped. I swear it did. There he was. On one knee. With a ring. I think I got in one: “Are you serious!?!?!” before he told me that I was the most important thing in his life and he wanted me to be in it forever. Would I marry him?

Of course I said YES! And I cried. He cried. And we got to spend a romantic weekend together as an engaged couple with no interruptions. AND the ring was his great-grandmothers, and it’s beautiful! He also had it for 3 months!! Hidden in his damn sock drawer. I was never the wiser.

Shewwww…. sorry so long winded tonight! I just love that story! <3

@His Lil SantosGirl:It’s funny that you say that.. he would NOT put one particular gift under the tree for me this past year. He said it was hidden in the house, can you guess who the genius was who DID NOT even think to look in the damn sock drawer?

Wow. I’m a smart cookie πŸ˜‰

Yalss stories are wonderful and make me get all warm inside!!

Ill share mine πŸ™‚

Fi (BF at the time) was out of town for the weekend for one of his friends bachelor parties, so I was just cleaning house and doing my own thing. Monday came around and he was just getting home from his trip, he came in the door we said our hellos, missed you, kissed, and huged and he told me he had to go somewhere to run a errand and wouldnt let me go with him. I was kinda upset but whatever I had a friend coming over later that day to cut and highlight my hair so I didnt really say much. Well he came back from his “errand” and my friend was there doing my hair, so he was like okay im going to go over to R’s house to hang out for awhile while your getting your hair done. While getting my hair done, he texted me asking if I wanted to go to the lake and watch the sunset (we have a boat.) so of course I said yes!

Well we headed out to the lake got the boat off the trailer and we were the only boat out that day so we just turned off the boat out in the middle of the lake. He turned on some music, and I asked him “Where in the hell did you get this love CD!?” (HAHA turns out he made it just for the proposal!). The third song on the CD was our song, and a part in the song says something like “You’ve gone hungry saving for that diamond ring, I never though id see the day where you get down on one knee”, and I was messing with something on the boat and turned around and he was on his knee and that point in the song! It was so perfect!! Wouldnt have asked for a better proposal! πŸ™‚

Sorry so long!!!

I love this idea! πŸ™‚ The stories are great! I get teary-eyed reading them.

So my then-girlfriend wanted to go to Las Vegas for her birthday weekend in February of 2010. I kind of had a vague idea that she might be proposing soon because I had been hinting a lot lately; we’d been together for 4 years. I wasn’t quite sure she’d do it then since she’d planned the trip for her birthday. She made reservations at Okada at the Wynn for one of our nights out (awesome sushi, BTW) as a romantic surprise. Afterwards she suggest we walk to the Bellagio for the fountain show. I didn’t really want to go, but she was a bit insistent. πŸ˜›

I had to pee really bad about halfway there, but there were no restrooms we could find on the way. When we get there, I think “maybe she’s going to propose” because she was like “We have to find a good spot to watch it” and I was like “What? Here is fine.” So then the show starts (and at this point I REALLY have to pee). Proud to Be an American comes on. I’m thinking “Is she going to propose to THIS?” I wait through the song all nervous, but thinking what a lame song it is. No proposal and the song is over.

At this point, I say “I have to pee, so let’s go.” And she says “Wait, don’t you want to see it again? I think they play different songs.” I’m like, “No, why would they play different songs? I have to pee!” So she gets all nervous and says something like “Ok, hang on…” and says something about how much she loves me and that she wants to be together forever. She pulls out a ring and I start crying and she proposes! Of course I say yes.

Then a random woman comes up to us and says something like “I just celebrated my 20 year anniversary with my wife, and I want to tell you both congratulations!” LOL. At some point another (better) song comes on with the fountain show, so I whipped out my camera and took a video of the end of it. After that show was over, we book it to a restroom. πŸ™‚
