FH and I are planning a 40s/50s vintage themed wedding, and I’d like to use some big band music or something similar for the processional…any suggestions?
For the bridesmaids processional (or recessional), I was thinking “We’re Going to Be Friends” by the White Stripes, which I think is a lovely song…but it doesn’t quite fit and might be awkward. So, that’s nixed, lol. Feel free to steal it if you like the Stripes.
Since I’m only having four attendants, we could potentially share a song that fits the theme, but I’d sort of like something different. I’m walking in alone, no escort, so maybe something more upbeat for them that slows down and gets a little more dramatic for me?
We’re also having a four-hour reception, so we’re splitting the music in half–older stuff (Sinatra, Dean Martin, Ella Fitzgerald, instrumental, etc.) for the first two hours (for mingling) and then some more modern, upbeat stuff for when everyone’s dancing (with some of the oldies mixed in as well here and there–Fallout 3 soundtrack anyone? Lol).
Also, we have a while to think of this, but we’re starting to brainstorm first dance songs. I love “Easy Living” by Billie Holiday; FH, not so much. Has anyone done two first dance songs, back to back? I think it’d be okay as long as they’re both relatively short songs so you’re not out there FOREVER, but it might be kind of cool for us to each pick one. What do you think?
