@Milan21xx:  Sorry, just saw this. Sunset was at 5:30, and the ceremony started right at 5:00. I wanted the sun to set just as we finished our ceremony. Lighting was amazing!

A beach wedding can be FABULOUS!  I married the man of my dreams at the edge of a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea (I chose a rocky cliff instead of the sand because I wanted to wear pretty heels! lol).  With only our nearest and dearest traveling the distance, it was so special, personal, and intimate.  It could have been pouring down rain (though unlikely) and it still would have been warm, beautiful and perfect.  Now I have the complete joy of photographing other brides and their Caribbean weddings.  Lucky me!  For some more beach wedding inspiration and ideas, check out my pics at http://www.meganbiggsphoto.com.  Send me a message if you have any questions about pros and cons of beach destination weddings. Smile

NotYourTypicalBride:  Hi There,

My name is Debra and I’m new to Wedding Bee. My friend referred me because she said it was very helpful. I am newly engaged and my fiance and I are looking into a destination wedding in naples, florida. It has always been a dream of mine to be married on a beach and have this beaufitul evening reception lit up by small twinkling string of lights and everyone dancing and having a good time in a relaxing atmosphere. Of course there are cons to destination with guests traveling, which is why we are looking at Naples. We live in Albany, NY and its an easy trip to Naples and I’ve heard good things. Looking at the Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club. Do you have any advice on planning a destination? Did you have your ceremony on the beach? I see a lot of resorts have a grass lawn they offer for a ceremony too, but part of me feels weird doing that because the point of a beach wedding is to be on the beach. But i wasn’t sure if it was inconvenient. Also, did you have your reception all outside? Where exactly was it? We are looking at april 2016. In naples, there is a noise ordinance so music has to stop at 10 p.m. i wasn’t sure if that was awkward but i suppose we just start earlier. Thoughts, advice, suggestions are welcome 🙂

I had a beach wedding and loved it!!! Everything was perfect but I could see how there could be some cons depending on weather and what not. So I will do my best to offer advice

everyone is more relaxed – since you’re technically on vacation, people are at ease and have got to know each other

Beautiful scenery – no need for crazy decor unless you want to (I went with very little decor and focused more on the surroundings)

barefoot wedding!

youre more relaxed

nothing lik saying your I do’s with the ocean behind you

weather can be unpredictable depending on what season you go in

if you don’t have a private venue, people may watch or gawk.

if you’re married at a resort they have a curfew due to noise levels

not as many people may make it

we got married at a private beach club in the Mayan which took care of 2/4 cons and it was decently affordable too! I wouldn’t of changed my day for the world. However, am happy we are having an at home reception
