I think it’s a personal choice.  If you want to wear it all of the time, just make sure that you have it inspected regularly to check if the diamond is loose, so you don’t lose it.

Personally, I always take my ring off because in the shower I don’t want it to get wet and come off and fall (diamonds can chip or the setting can be compromised and make the diamond loose).  Plus I hate getting my ring stuck in my hair.

I also take it off when I am doing my makeup and hair because hairspray, lotions, etc can cause a build-up on my precious.

Definitely get the ring appraised and insured if you plan on wearing it all of the time.

I take my engagement ring off a lot. I make sure to always place it in its box which sits on my shelf. I take my ring off for showering/lotioning/make-up, doing the dishes/household chores, sleeping, working out etc. I’m not worried about losing my ring (I never lose things), however it is insured.

So much for my part. I think whether you constantly wear your ring or take it off once in a while is just a matter of personal preference. One of my aunts has a pretty big engagement ring and never takes it off; she does everything with it. Unless you have reason to fear that your ring fits loosely and might fall off when it gets wet or soapy, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with keeping it on in the shower.

I will probably always sleep with mine on…I only take it off to shower, swim, or cleaning with strong chemicals. But I get mine inspected at least every 6 months…I have to do that to keep the warranty anyway…

I neverrr take off my princess solitare.  It’s been over 3 years and I’ve had no problems with it, other than scratching my husband 🙂  I wear it to bed, in the shower, when cleaning, everything.

I take my princess cut ring off all the time–any time I’m doing anything dirty, or wet, or sweaty. Not when I sleep though!

I take it off while:

Showering
Washing dishes
Working out
Gardening
Baking/cooking
Cleaning the bathroom/kitchen
Putting on lotion/hair products

I do have three places I put it whenever I take it off though: on top of the iPod player in my bathroom, on top of the cable box in the kitchen, or in a pouch in my purse. It’s always in one of those places or on my finger.

My mom wears her ring all the time and never takes it off. I, on the other hand, have read that soaps can ruin the quality of the diamond. I don’t know how true this is, but I take my ring off to shower, wash my hands, do dishes, and if I go into a pool or hot tub. Otherwise, I have it on all the time. . . including sleep! I’ve been engaged for a year and haven’t done anything to my ring in my sleep other than scratch my Fiance. lol

I also have a 3/4 carat solitaire, and I never take it off. I should correct that– I only take it off when I moisturize my hands. I put it right back on, though. I wear it is a piece of me. Sure we get a little banged up now and again when a door or wall decide to jump out and attack, but other than that, we’re safe.

I think it’s kind of a PITA to constantly swing by the jewelry store to get cleanings, so it is easier for me to just remove it for showers and everything else I do at home than to keep it on but get it cloudy/dirty sooner. So my habit is literally as soon as I get home, I take it off and pop it into the ring dish. That way, if I do end up doing something messy, I’m not just leaving my rings here and there around the house. For me, it’s not about protecting it; I’m 100% confident about that. It’s literally just about dealing with a cloudy, dirty diamond.

So far I leave mine on nearly all the time.  I feel like it is safest when it is on because I fear losing it if I were to set it down someplace. If I garden or do heavy work I wear gloves, but I generally still wear my ring everywhere.

When I started looking at rings I never wanted something so delicate I’d feel like I have to take it off all the time.  The ring I ended up loving looks more delicate than I thought I would end up with, but it actually seems sturdy and I think it will wear pretty well without damage (it is not pave, which I have heard are more delicate.  Mine has a 4 pronged center stone and 6 tension-mount diamonds on the band).  My jeweler has a warranty on any lost stones as well, although I really hope that I don’t have to use it!

When i first got my ring I never took it off, its supposed to be worn all the time. But my husband makes me take it off when im cooking or cleaning or when i get in the shower. Thats it, I always have it on, even when i sleep.

I take mine off to sleep since I sleep with my hands near my face and I don’t want a diamond print in the cheek when I wake up. I put it back on after I shower/makeup/hair in the morning and it stays on my finger until I got to bed. SOmetimes I take it off to moisturize because I don’t want to get it all gunky.

I wear my wedding band mostly all the time, but I only wear my e-ring when I go out.  I don’t wear either when swimming in pools, showering or using lotions…etc.  Mostly because I just hate the feel of lotion under my rings, and also because mine are white gold and the more chemicals they come in contact with the sooner they yellow.  Chrlorine especially is bad!  I’m not worried about the diamonds getting dirty, they’re diamonds! Easy to clean. They may get dirty sometimes, but I just pop them in a ring cleaner or wash my hands with dawn and they’re fine.  It’s more about the metal than the diamond for me.

I wear it all the time, just insure it and call it a day!
