Feeling proud of my first DIY project!! I made my own guestbook with the new idea by Martha Stewart, filling a scrapbook with mini envelopes and allowing guests to fill out a mini card to stick in a envelope. Loved this idea.
So, first, it was hard to find a scrapbook that didn’t have those plastic covers over the pages. I only had a choice of brown or navy cloth covered scrapbook(very plain/boring) that actually just had the cardstock pages inside. Found it at hobby lobby. It had 20 pages and after filling each page back and front with envelopes, it held close to 200 mini envelopes. I actually used flooring double sided tape and carefully stuck each one on the page. I used this instead of the regular kind to make sure I didn’t have them falling off everywhere.
I had a hard time finding the small cards and envelopes too. They had these miscellaneous shelves in the middle of the store at Michaels with clearance stuff, and I found these kind that are different designs, 10 to a pack for 1$ each. Also got 25$ off my order.. Yaay!
I love the pink and purple colors, it goes perfect with my wedding colors. I heard after my hunt for mini cards and envelopes that target sells some cute ones that are cheap.
For the cover, I cut a piece of the lace I ordered to have sewn on the underskirt of my wedding dress and carefully glued it on the front. I added a few ribbons and some cutsie pearls with fabric glue.. and voila! I will add our names and date in iron on emboidery letters on the book later.
And the little cups on the side will prob hold cute pens. I will use this book for my showers and have a separate photo guestbook made for the wedding with a nice pen for more traditional look.
What do you girls think??
Above is the tray with all the different mini cards. (Sorry pics are huge!!) Cards from Michaels, Tray from Hobby Lobby.
These are the frames I am using. The little one will have our pic and the big one will have printed (easy and sweet) directions on how to use the guestbook. Sorry about the price tags.. haha. Came from hobby lobby, half off!
This is the tray that I found without the cards on it. I can make it into a picture frame later.
Here’s the front of the guestbook. Names will be ironed on soon!
And here are the cutsie envelopes all glued in. They look so cute and sweet 😀
