Hi there.
I’m getting to the point with some venues where they are asking me for my budget in their request for proposals. I’m just not sure what number to put there… my whole budget, or the part of the budget “reserved” for the venue?
Let’s just say my budget is $100 (for easy math purposes), do I tell them I have $100 budgeted, or do I tell them the $60 I have budgeted for the reception?
Thanks for any help!

ask them what they mean – some want their portion some want overall.

@CakeyP: I would give them your budget for just the reception venue (and any other things their venue inlcudes like food). I would consider giving them a number a little under what you’re willing to spend and assume that they want the figure before tax and tip.

I definitely think you should give them a number below. most vendors are aware you have a “soft” budget then a real budget that is higher than the soft.
Its basically negotiating.
Also, if you give yourself some cushion room you can then upgrade for other options.
