The point is, when you’re alone you’re always going to meet people you never would have otherwise.  That’s always fun:)

Where are you right now? Maine or NY?

That sounds like an awesome experience! Sometimes just stepping out of your comfort zone really pays off 🙂 Ever since your last post about going out to eat alone I’ve wanted to try it.

That is really cool! Even on the rare occasion where I have eaten at a restaurant alone, I am definitely too afraid to sit at the bar cuz I am afraid I will get hit on by creepy old men! eek! So I probably am missing out on meeting other interesting people… 🙁

I actually enjoy eating out on my own. It’s a good time to read if you’re at your own table. But I prefer sitting at a bar (if available) because you can have your alone time or chat with other people.

@red_rose: I’ve gotten really good at shutting down unwanted flirtation. lol. Sharpen up those nonverbal cues (divert eyes, turn shoulders, look over their shoulder, keep checking the time).

@KatNYC2011: OK Two things.

1. WHO wouldn’t love having you as a dining companion?

2. I actually find I get hit on way more wearing the e-ring than not. I’ve met a lot of men who see it as a challenge. LIke hey you’re not married yet….

I used to travel a lot for work. You get used to dining alone, but you also get used to taking advantage of the opportunity to meet new people.

Some restaurants even have a communal table where you can be assured that the rest of the people are also on their own and just looking for an enjoyable meal.

I met one of my favorite female friends in a hotel lobby at a cocktail hour hosted by the hotel for their valued clients. We see each other as often as we can.
