@BlondeMissMolly:  360 views of colored stones.  Just what some of us (I) need.  Supposed to be studying for certifications and yet Fiance is ready to sign me up to some addiction counseling for precious stones.  Ugh

Before I disappear into forced 5150 gem rehab, if anyone sees deep blue or deep intense fancy yellow stones on this new 360 view site, shout out?  Thanks.  Woot

@BlondeMissMolly:  My bachelors which is almost complete is in accounting. My associates is all chemistry and biology (I had to switch due to medical reasons). I will also be persuing an appraisal certification in jewlery. I will start by working part time appraising and certifying jewelery, and gems. I will then do some metal working classes with my fiance and work up to starting a shop in the basement. We have a 10-15 year plan to get a business up and running. Basically I will start this certification in a year and work towards a retirement business because this is where my heart is. The accounting degree serves me well in 2 ways: I can maintain a real job while starting, and I’ll do all my own accounting in the begining. The science will allow me to really understand alloys, refractive indexes, chemical structure etc since I’ve handled these in other ways.

My Fiance has my solitaire down to two rings on that site 🙂  I like the 360 views and have been stalking them ever since!

The two on the lower right – six prong royal crown or six prong spring blossom.  He says I will be receiving it “soon”!  Yay!  I just don’t know what he means by soon, lol.

@BlondeMissMolly:  The uploading part is what would be scary for me. And the updating when someone actually buys a stone. But, I suspect they have a little setup that takes the video (or stills which are then made into a video) and the employee just plops down a stone and pushes a button for each one. I bet there are a couple people who just make stone videos all day. I would love that job lol.

@asscherlover:  “bet there are a couple people who just make stone videos all day.”

Can you imagine?!  Only in heaven is there such a job like this.

@dewingedpixie

You mentioned the gemologist cert and what’s coincidental is that my beloved, trusted gemologist left her job at my princeton jewelers and I have had to travel a damn hour now to a new person with her credentials.  The new person is totally worth it; he gives you straight-talk free of charge and has an excellent eye for discerning characteristics (just by eyeballing) in two diamonds that look exactly alike, but yet have major differences that would show in lab measurement.  I have a laser inscript on my .40 princess that no one else could see without 30x mag and he loops it and reads it off to me while I had my GIA cert# up to my face.  So, what you are saying about passing that cert and doing that work part-time is legitimate.  If he appraises 10 times in a week (each appraisal being about an hour) he’s making $1000 a 10-hour week.  Bottom line, I NEVER go to some local self-proclaimed “gem-appraiser”.  No.  I want a GG, AGS individual and will drive an hour away for one.  You make a good point.  Last I heard, the official training to be one costs 9k to 15k (like a year of college).  It is doable.  Might just look into it.
