I’ve seen a few people say that if there is a service charge, that is the staff’s gratuity. This is not true. Service charge is basically administration fees, the charge that the catering company/venue charges to cover their costs for making all of the arrangements. The staff does not ever see this. We are paid hourly and in many cases are not allowed to accept cash tips from guests, we may only accept a check or cash tip from the client at the end of the night. Please tip your servers!
