The park idea sounds lovely! You could always try to pick a spot in the park that is particularly secluded?
It sounds like she’s just more nervous about being the centre of attention and having a million eyes on her – if you can find a really private spot in the park I’m sure she won’t even notice if there are a couple joggers once you’re down on one knee proposing! Good luck!

I’m also anti public proposals. For me, the issue would be a) doing it in front of family/friends, or b) making a big show of it in front of strangers (ie, announcing it in front of a watching crowd or on a loudspeaker). Your plan sounds very nice and I would be thrilled!
ETA JUST SAW YOUR UPDATE, CONGRATS wooohooo!!!!

I totally get where your girlfriend is coming from, as I am the same way and my proposal was also intimate/private. I don’t think she needs it to be completely absent of anyone else, just private enough that it’s not in a restaurant or at an event or something of that nature. I’m sure a nice spot in the park that you both enjoy would be just perfect. Good luck!!

msbtobe : I had the same stipulation – I asked for no public proposal and my Fiance pretty much proposed in the way you’re describing and I LOVED it. Afterwards we just went on a walk in the park for like an hour and basked in our post-engaged glow and then went for a nice lunch at the bar/restaurant where we met. It was perfect!
