I recently was watching a show and a girl was giving birth. After the doctor delivered the baby’s head and shoulders the mom grabbed the baby under the arms and pulled her the rest of the way out and onto her chest! I am wondering if any of you ladies have been given the chance to do this!?

Nope, but there’s no reason why mommy shouldn’t be the first person in the universe to hold the baby.

nope, but seen this/heard of this being done before. It is awesome to be the 1st to hold a little human and if mom wants to do it she should. they are slippery little buggers though!

I have watched shows where they do it, but I didn’t. Just didn’t think about it, maybe next time though. The doctor “pulled” her put and put her on my chest as soon as she was out.

No thanks. That’s what doctors are for.

I didn’t even think about it and with my oldest my OB caught him and placed him on my chest right away. With my second though my midwife told me “Get your baby Momma!” it was so amazing! 🙂

I did this. It wasn’t like I yanked her out or anything, I just helped catch her and guide her to my chest.

i plan to. i would also do a “natural” c-section if i have to have another c-section (and of course if the doctor/hospital allowed, it’s only done in the UK right now). i’m planning for a vbac, when the time comes, though.

I wish I (or my husband) had…I didn’t even think about it at the time.
