Punta cana is amazing! opt for snorkeling/scuba diving tours. We did a boogie (dune buggie) tour in March when we were there and it was not worth it. It was really dusty, and you didn’t really get to drive fast, and all in one long line.

We also did swimming with sting rays and sharks, which was fun, and worth the money.

I went there last year for business then stayed a few days for pleasure.

Outside of the grounds are unsafe as will any 3rd world country, if you take any outside tours you will see how people live, and how dirty it can be.

At the resort i stayed i watched some men walk around with gun ( not sure if they were security) but its common down there to have something on you due to the poverty.

Dont drink the water at all, it can make you sick. they dont have the recorces to clean thier water like the U.S does. Always ask for bottled.

If your not staying at an all inclusive it can get pricy, when they tourist they jack all the prices up be prepared to hagle if you think you deserve a better price or dont want what they want for it.

I did alot of research before i went on my trip and still have tons of information and links i used when researching feel free to pm me with any questions.

Water is beatiful, snorkling is great though almost all the reefs are dying out there, there still are fish, just non colorful coral.

@FaceReality: I would really like more info you have on punta cana. we are thinking about staying at an exellence resort. we are interested in doing things off the resort like zip lining and things along that line. or do you suggest other places we should go?

We just got back from staying in The Reserve at the Paradisus Punta Cana!! We had a huge pool with a bar, and also a private beach area!!It was sooo much fun. We only did one excursion which consisted of riding a speed boat to two islands and then hopping on a huge sail boat on the way back to Punta Cana. It was an all day event, so you will be tired, but is was totally worth it. The food has its ups and downs though, but overall was good. The people were extremely friendly and we definitely will be going back!

my lovely country is like any other country with good and bad stuffs. it’s late but if you know some spanish it will help.  do not go out the resort with jewels or tons of money, and if it looks too good to be true it’s because it’s not good or safe.  unless you are going wiht someone who live there stay in the resort area.      have fun!

Hello!

We stayed at the excellence punta cana and loved it… we loved the “outback safari” excursion where you get to learn more about the culture and go boogie boarding, we did the punta cana boogies (atv through the countryside) which was fun, and love love LOVED the bavaro snuba and cigar boat rides. Enjoy!

I have never been to a wedding there, but I was there for new years forever ago and it was AMAZING. the views and weather simply can’t be beat! it would be a gorgeous place for a wedding! we stayed in a resort that i can’t recall the name of but it was near Oscar de la Renta’s house there. If it’s good enough for him, it’s good enough for me!
