Jamaica! im bias though, thats where we honeymooned

The bus ride to negril is about an hour and they stop halfway to let you use the restroom and grab a beer for the rest of the ride – i really enjoyed the drive from the airport, you drive through montego bay and along the coast till you get to negril its very beautiful! plus you will be so pumped to get there you wont mind the drive.

We stayed at couple swept away and i seriously cannot say enough good things about them, i was very impressed and it was by far the best vacation i have been on.

this is where we stayed -http://couples.com/swept-away/ – but i heard all the couples resorts are really wonderful – i really loved negril and rave about it all the time.

Edit: these resorts are adults only – all inclusive including excursions like glass bottom boat, snorkling, scuba diving, sunset tours and you have full access to kayaks and those little sail boat things and much more. the food was incredible! and the staff was so friendly! be sure to bring your marriage license for a free couple massage and bottle of champagne!

I’ve been to both Jamaica and Punta Cana, DR. If I had to choose to go back to one I would choose Jamaica, and if you go there you MUST go climb the Dunns River Falls! It is a gradual waterfall you can be guided up, just make sure you pack water shoes! BUT I have also been to Aruba, and out of the three destinations Aruba takes the cake for the best beaches, clearest waters, nicest locals, safest feeling (despite media attention to it) and all around hospitality and enjoyability. I was honestly slightly scared around the locals in the DR and the first thing the guy on the bus asked us off the plane in Jamaica was if we wanted to buy any drugs from him, he had a special term for them that I forget…SO with all that said, choose Jamaica OR go a different direction and seriously look into Aruba! Aruba is a dutch colony with a great mixed culture of all kinds. The cute boys on our catamaran tour taught us how to say “kiss me” in their Aruban language, so fun! ๐Ÿ™‚ Good luck with your decision! Any other questions feel free to PM me!

@Jen91011: I hated Punta Cana…the water wasn’t clear/tropical looking, the coral reef/rocks hurt everyone who was more than knee deep in the water, badly. The beach itself kind of reminded me of the jersery shore. Our resort was infested with bugs. I got food poisoning (even though that’s not Punta Cana’s fault) it just wasn’t a place I’d ever want to go back to…

just my opinion though

They are both beautiful!  I absolutely disagree with the previous poster about Punta Cana.  It is absolutely stunning!  I’ve been there before as have many of my friends and family.  The resort where you stay will absolutely influence your experience.  We are staying at Now Larimar.  You can’t go wrong with this decision – they are both gorgeous locations.

@Heatherloveskenny: Which resort did you stay at in Punta Cana?

Whew..we’re going to Excellence Punta Cana for our honeymoon in a few weeks, hopefully it’s better than Heatherloveskenny said her visit to the city was!

@FallBride2B: I’ve heard Excellence is nicer than Dreams – I’m hoping your experience is better, didn’t mean to scare you!

Montego Bay, Jamaica gets my vote!!! We went there in July. It’s close to the airport… only about 15 min. Already saving for a trip back!
