Hi there!

Congrats on being able to plan! I have been to both the Majestic Colonial and Majestic Elegance a few times and had begun planning a wedding at Majestic Elegance (plans changed, nothing related to either resort). Both resorts are beautiful and the staff is fantastic.

If you would like a more private area for the wedding, the gazebo (closer to lobby, not on beach) is stunning and would be relatively private for you. The resort also offered a few private reception options with their packages. I have visited the Jellyfish on a past trip and it was very nice, but I have heard private events there can become expensive.

There is a facebook group for Majestic Colonial/Elegance Brides – awesome resource! 🙂

I attended a wedding at Secrets Royal Beach in Punta Cana in April. One of the best weddings I’ve ever been to! The ceremony did have a lot of onlookers, but they kept their distance. The ceremony was at 4 p.m. though, when the beach is still busy, so I think they would have had less beach traffic if they did it later in the day, like closer to sunset. The reception was on the beach and was so great! One of the best receptions I’ve been to for sure. We had a blast dancing. The staff did a good job keeping the beach private during the reception, so it felt just just like our group on the beach!

I definitely second Miss.Meow’s comment about joining the Majestic Brides facebook page – it helped me out so much!  I was married this last January at Majestic Elegance in PC.

To address some of your concerns:  First, I definitely had a huge “audience” for the wedding.  The beach goers were super respectful during the ceremony – but I can see them in many of my pictures (I added a picture so you could get some perspective).  I didn’t mind though… they cheered for us right along with our family & friends! Regarding budget – you can have an absolutely gorgeous ceremony with no decorations at all.  We just went with the basic free, white decor package & hired the Dominican Trio ($300) to sing before & after the ceremony – it was perfect.  I did however go the private reception route and hired a DJ, which was a bit spendy.  But they do an AMAZING job working with your budget on decorations and different options.  Again – join the Facebook group!

Feel free to ask me any questions! 🙂

I had my wedding in Punta Cana in April. We went with a local photographer instead of one from our resort, and they were amazing. I would highly recommend them. If nothing else you should check out their blog, they have a ton of information about planning destination weddings in Punta Cana, and you can also get a lot of ideas/check out a lot of venues by looking at the pictures of other people’s weddings.
