We don’t allow ours on any furniture. Everyone around me also thinks thats crazy, but I would never have it any other way. We started out letting her on couches and beds, but I changed my mind. She is 60 lbs, and LOVES attention, so when we let her on the couch she was always on our lap and in our faces.. and it just became too much. We also tried the bed but she is obsessed with my husband and we just couldnt get any us time without her wedging herself between us. We also thought about the future, and I would like to be able to lay a baby on my bed or couch without having to worry shes going to sit on them. I honestly dont think there is a right or wrong answer… juts do what works best for you and your dog will still feel loved! We always cuddle her on the floor and she actually loves her beds!

TwilightRarity :  Amen! We don’t currently have a dog, but we have two cats. Neither are allowed to lick me for the very same reasons! I just can’t get past where their tongue just came from!

I grew up with a dog in the house and would someday like to get a puppy. However, even though I grew up with dogs on the furniture, I’d like to not allow it this next time around. Part of it is a clean issue..and the other part is that since my hubby likes large breeds, we just likely won’t have room on the bed or couch.

My dog is allowed on both at our home, but only the couch at my parents house. My parents never let our dogs onto the furniture growing up, but we had an 80 lb Lab, whereas my current dog is a 25 lb mini Aussie 🙂 The only time she’s not allowed on the couch is if we’re eating food or if she gets too possessive of a pillow or blanket and won’t share it…in which case, she’s on the doggie bed on the floor!
