I was told Piddles is allergic to corn & the caretakers were feeding her Beneful (umm the #1 ingrediant is corn!). So after like an hour of research & talking to my pet supply store people, I went with Diamond Naturals, its corn free & supposedly good. However, Piddles isn’t doing well on this & just talked to my vet & they said its not that great of a food. I need your recommendations! I did a few reviews on Diamond Naturals & it ranked like 3 out of 5 stars & was equal to reviews with some of the Blue foods. Regular Diamond is pretty bad, but the Naturals was supposed to be good. IDK what reviews to trust now :(.
I can’t find specific reviews on puppy food & have 2 days to get some. I can’t feed her anything tonight & then tomorrow can only feed her chicken & rice & can’t add kibble until Wed. So I have a few days to research.
I’m not 100% sure if Piddles is actually allergic to corn, I think that’s what they narrowed it down to but not sure if they did the $300 test only because she didn’t have her $40 shots. I do know they went to the vet about it. I’m checking with the owner tonight on this.

We use Nutro! We used it when Leroy was a “puppy” and we switched to adult food a few months a go (he’s 14 months). We haven’t had any problems, and it’s also corn free!

I have used Orijen, or Acana food for my Newfoundland dog, and have gotten great results.

I second Nutro…worth the money

Wellness CORE and EVO are both good brands and grain free. I’ve found that EVO is harder to find than Wellness.
I would check out Amazon review and http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-reviews/evo-dog-food-dry/
Edit: I just learned that EVO has been purchased by P&G 🙁

we are also on nutro, natural choice. we use the one for sensitive stomachs now because he’s an adult, but as a puppy, we used small bites (still nutro natural choice). he threw up everything, and the second we switched him to that there was such a difference. he loves it.
another added bonus is how nice it makes their coat – we get so many compliments on his color and how soft he is, but we rarely groom him! brush him once in awhile but just don’t have the time for full blown shampoo.

We feed our dog Orijen as well.. it’s grain free and it has been named pet food of the year for the past couple years.. it’s kind of expensive but he doesn’t need to eat that much of it, so it lasts awhile and he loves it..

Flint River Ranch and/or Life’s Abundance. I know at least one of them, if not both, are human grade (not that I’d ever want to eat it, but it is nice to know in the event of a severe famine, I’ve got that on hand. :))

I feed my dog Wellness Core but I don’t think they made any that’s specifically for puppies. It’s pretty easy to find now that it’s sold at both Petco and PetSmart. I have a friend who feeds her dog raw beef medallions, I suppose that’s always an option.

We used to feed Wellness, but my dogs didn’t like it much and it made my puppy have TERRIBLE gas. I’ve been very happy with Halo puppy food. Petco carries it.

We use the Wellness brand. When Eva was a puppy, she had GI issues until we switched her to this brand. We’re able to pick it up at most pet stores in our area. I took a quick look at the ingredients, and I don’t think it has corn (from quickly looking).

Whole Dog Journal puts out a list every year of their approved dry dog foods (they are super stringent in the requirements). I have a lot of experience in this area cause of my work. I would choose a grain free version of any of the foods on this list
feel free to pm me with any questions
edited to add: I feed my dogs Wellness and raw food diet

We switched to Nutro Grain Free a couple of weeks ago and our dog LOVES it. . She literally is drooling by the time I’m scooping it into her bowl. Although, I’m not sure if they have a “puppy” version. Plus, she poops a WHOLE lot less, lol.
