She will be very very tired when she gets home.  Just make sure she is comfortable and try to keep her from running around for a few days.  And of course… no licking.

Good luck!

My SIl’s dog just got spayed a few months ago.  She was VERY tired when she got home (she didn’t have to stay overnight).  They think she was still on some strong pain meds.  It took her a day or so to come out of it.  They were worried she wasn’t eating/drinking enough.  Maybe when you pick her up ask about how much she should eat/drink and if she doesn’t feel up to it when you should be worried.

After about 1.5-2 days their girl was fine around the house and back to normal.

My dogs were both crazy. The pain meds to them were like speed. And then the vet tells you to keep them still for 10 days. Just make sure they don’t lick or pick at their stiches and I wouldn’t let them have play dates or wrestle with other dogs for a week or so. In order to make mine tired I took them for walks. They may advise you not to put in my situation it wasn’t ideal to make them sit still for 1 days. On a walk you are controlling her head so that she can’t reach the stitches and my taking a nice walk (probably on the slower side) she will get tired and need a nap. Also some of her favorite bones will work to keep her occupied.

She is adorable!! I have two girl dogs one is a 12 year old pug and the other is a 6 month old Beagle/Shiba Inu mix. The pug was spayed a few years ago due to an infection. And the Beagle Inu is gettign spayed next Friday.

I dont have any advice but I hope your pup heals quickly!

Just try to keep her calm for the first few days. No running around the house/yard, no playing fetch, no stairs, etc.

She will likely be very groggy when she comes home. And they’ll give you pain meds to give her for a few days.

It can be helpful to keep a leash on her and just keep it looped around your wrist or ankle when you are sitting during meal/reading/TV time.

And I’m sure your vet will tell you this, but no baths until the stitches are out or your vet gives the okay. (My most recently spayed dog they used dissolvable stiches and surgical glue to close her up, so she never had to have them removed, they just checked her after 2 weeks and said “she’s good!”.)

Do you have a Kong? If not, get one. That will help keep her entertained without moving around too much.
