Wow, that’s terrible! The difference between the two rings is unbelievable. That halo Moissy is GORGEOUS, do it! I don’t have any advice because I don’t have a moissy, but I think you should do what makes you happy! Even if you get a moissy now, you can replace it with a diamond later if that makes you Fiance more comfortable.

    Good luck!

I love your current setting.  If it were me, I’d keep it and just replace the center stone with a moissanite.

I agree, I love the original setting. I’d just replace the stone!

I would go 1.5 tops.  Your fingers are dainty and beautifully tiny, I think more might look a bit too big.

Oh and just the stone set in your current setting.  I love your original ring as well and agree with the PP 🙂

Sorry you got ‘duped’ by the jeweler and I hope you get the word out as much as possible (BBB, online reviews, etc) that he/she/they are shysters

You need to sue that jeweler! And I am not one to suggest sueing anyone, but that is horrible! Diamond rings should appraise for double what you paid, not less than what you paid!

    good luck!

Have you confronted the jewelry store that sold your Fiance the first ring? I would go in and calmly demand to speak to a manager and explain that you feel deceived and are prepared to take further steps (BBB, online reviews, possible legal action) and give them a chance to replace the stone. Be calm, professional and be prepared to walk out if they don’t budge.

I like the idea a PP brought up.  Using your old setting with a new stone would be perfect!  And your Fiance will still feel like he picked out your ring.

A 1.5 enhanced cushion cut moissanite would look spectacular in that setting!

I’m sorry you were deceived by your jeweler. In the future for diamond purchases, insist on a GIA cert, that will make people trying to sell you a filled diamond think twice.

I would be in that store in a heartbeat demanding a full refund! That is disgusting! (not your ring, the salesperson!)

Moissaniteco.com is the only vendor that offers enhanced moissy. You can order a loose stone and have it set. I have a 1.25ct moissy and wear a size 9 (yay for losing 20 pounds!) and my stone looks perfect. With your finger size, a 1.5 may be overwhelming. The halo is going to make the stone look bigger also.

Also, I don’t know what your intentions are about explaining it to people, but if you get something bigger and more radiant than you do now, some people may question it. There are some people who get moissanite to pass it off as a diamond and there are some people who are proud to have moissanite and have no problem whatsoever telling people what it is. So if you are going to pass it off as a diamond, be prepared for people asking you how you saved up that much money for a bigger better stone in such a short time, or be prepared to educate people that it’s moissanite.

Good luck with your choice! I really really hope you do something about the jeweler
