So I was cleaning out my linen closet to reorganize my mass amount of blankets I have and I found my old baby blanket my mom made. I was surprised I still had this thing. So I was wondering…
What to you still have from your childhood?

Not much, oddly enough. I still have a piece of my brother’s baby blanket- he was very attached to it, moreso than I ever was to anything, so when it disintegrated, I snuck a piece of it out of the trash can.
And I have a few books- one that my grandmother and I read til it almost literally fell apart. I’m afraid it won’t hold up for my kids, and it makes me sad. It was this random Spanish book called Los Viejitos about an old couple who takes a trip to the moon and eats cheese and dances. It was so freakin’ cute.
I still have more stuff from my teenage years- a few knicknacks from my best friend, who committed suicide when we were 16, and more books. My copy of The Perks of Being a Wallflower is another one I’m not sure will make it much longer…

I have a stuffed animal my uncle got me when he was stationed overseas. I got him when I was 3, lost him sometime in high school, and he resurfaced in the depths of my closet a few months ago. I was ecstatic that I found him again and still sleep with him sometimes. I’m 25 and not ashamed 🙂

I have a few things, (a babybook made by my great-grandma, etc) but the most special thing is my teddy bear that my mom got at the baby shower she had when she was pregnant with me. I’m 27 and totally not ashamed. It lives in my bedroom, though is tucked away. DH actually has quite a few things from his childhood, too (trinkets from traveling, blankets from family, etc).

@Regina Phalange: There’s nothing wrong with that. I too am 25 and I now have a baby blanket on my bed.

I still have my Snuggles teddy bear (yes, like the fabric softener) a lot of her fur is loved off, and her eye fell off once and has been glued back on, but I still have her tucked away 🙂
I’m an only child, and my mother has refused to throw away a lot of books and toys I had when I was little. My Fisher-Price tape player, the dollhouse my dad built for me one Christmas, my Babysitter’s Club books…there are a lot of memories in their basement!

@pinkfrog: That’s so sweet that you have your brother’s blanket! Does he know?
I’m not sure what I have. My parents have a box labelled “Grace’s special things” and I know that I actually packed that box when I was a teenager… but I have no idea what’s in it.

I have a handful of stuffed animals from my childhood, including a stuffed dog that my mom took to college with her in 1980.
I have a lot more stuff at my parent’s house (obviously) and I still want to grab a few things.

Embarassing confession: I still sleep with my baby blanket! It fits under my neck just perfect

My twin and I have our first teddy bears from when we were three months old. We also each have a doll that our Mother gave to us when we were less than a year old; she died when we were nine months old, so they’re very special to us. I also have a box or two of toys and stuffed animals at my Grandmother’s house.
