So my train has absolutely nothing on it so I was thinking of removing the appliques on my mom’s train and putting them on mine. The only thing is, I’ve never actually seen what the appliques look like. Only from a distance from their wedding pictures since the actual dress is in a preservation box. I’m worried about a couple things. 1. What if they don’t match my dress? 2. What if they’re discolored and just don’t look right? 3. If I see them and don’t want to go through with it, can my mom’s dress be put back in a preservation box without ruining it?

@lambjo: The lace may require some gentle cleaning, but I think a good soak would bring it back to life. You would have to take the dress to a dry cleaners for it to be re-preserved. It’s actually a seal that you can’t re-seal, usually costs $100-$150.

So does that mean if we took it out of the box, took them all off, and then had it put in a new one, it wouldn’t damage it at all? It would be just like she put it in right after her wedding? Lol. Sorry if that doesn’t make too much sense.
Obviously if the dress had been left out for 20+ years, it would yellow. Does any of the yellowing happen in the box or happen if you take it out? I can just see taking it out of the box and it automatically turning yellow and start falling apart which I’m sure isn’t what happens. Lol!
