Hi All. I found a picture of an engagement ring that I really like and want to send to my boyfriend. I am a little unclear, however, if the center stone is 4 center stones (quad) or all one stone. It kind of looks like 4 but I’m not sure if it’s just th picture. I would prefer one stone in the center so I want to make sure before I send this to him. What do you think? Thank for your help!

Jillybee: it could be a quad or it could be a square stone with weird shadows on it.
Just send it and tell him you like the setting, and would want a princess/square center stone. I doubt most men would even know about quads, or would be able to discern whether that particular picture is a quad.

That looks like a quad to me, but the picture really isn’t clear.

It definitely looks like a quad, I agree with pp about adding a side note to your Boyfriend or Best Friend about what centre stone is your preference

I think it’s a princess cut stone. Not a quad. It’s blurry and the stone looks broken up. I think it’s just the lighting and bad quality of the photo that make it look like a quad.

Just say, I like this but want one big square center. My guy needs specifics lol

Jillybee: Tell him you like the halo and want a SINGLE princess or square cut. If he shows the pic to the jeweler who thinks it’s a quad, you might get a quad unless you are explicit.

I would wait to send him a picture that is more clearly a single center stone. There are a lot of pictures of rings that look similar to that, but have one stone.

I don’t think its a quad..princess cut diamonds have an “x” like shape in the facets I think thats what your seeing. When you send it to your boyfriend just make it clear that you want a solid stone and if it kinda indeed ends up being a quad not to get it..I really dont think it is a quad though..I have a princess cut diamond and in certain lighting you can also see a slight “t” shape in center

I looks like a quad. I would send the pic, but tell him you want just 1 center stone, not 4 small ones like the pic.

Hard to tell because princess cuts can look like a quad in the right picture. I’d guess quad thought because the linds look pretty defined. Definitely be specific and say no quads if you want a single stone! Very pretty though!

<br />Thanks everyone. I agree, my best bet is to show him the setting and be specific on the type of diamond I want.
Mrssloan2013-beautiful ring! Maybe I’ll just show him a pic of yours…as it’s clearly only one diamond!
