This is an interesting debate. I lost 30 pounds earlier this year and have maintained for the last 4 months. The quality of my diet has fluctuated greatly, but overall I have found that I lose or maintain weight when I eat a set number of calories each day. It’s much harder to stick to that number when I eat junk because the food is not satisfying or filling, but if I can manage to stick to my daily calories, I seem to be able to lose or maintain regardless of how much fat or processed white carbs I eat. I agree with the pp that the main thing for sustainable weightloss is to find a diet that you can stick to over the long haul.
