Sunscreen over and over every 2 hours.  If you don’t let a tan build up, you aren’t going to have problems concealing it later.

@Songbird29:  Do you already have the tan and are trying to even it out or are you pale and you just don’t want a tan?

If you already have the tan, wear a tank top or a shirt that follows the lines of your dress (like if your dress is a halter, wear a halter). If it’s strapless and you can’t wear a strapless shirt, wear a tank top instead.

If you don’t have the farmers tan already, use lots of sunscreen

Oh gosh I had this issue with my senior prom. We had a car wash fundraising event a week before prom and, well, yeah. I went to a tanning salon and covered everything but the whiteparents, but I didn’t line the towels up well and ended up with overlap and crazy white stipes on my arms. I second and third and fourth the sunscreen suggestion! Better for your skin, too. Skin cancer is no joke!

@MrsSaltWaterTaffy:  Exactly. I’m pale and easily get sun poisoning, so being religious about applying and reapplying sunscreen keeps this from being an issue. Use self-tanner if you need to even some areas out.

Haha yes!!! I am a runner so I always end up with sports bra tan. Not so nice in a strapless dress. Whenever you have a chance, get a little sun with tank top straps pulled down; otherwise, sunscreen it up! I managed to even everything out just so … so now I’m the sunscreen goddess!

@Songbird29:  If you’re wearing sunblock but still burning, maybe ask a dermatologist for a recommendation for a better block? I LOVE the spray kind because I never seem to smear it on enough when I use the cream but if I use the spray, I’m more likely to apply more frequently.

Beauty parlour, and fake tan it… they’re professionals, and I bet they see it all the time. Good luck!
