My friend lives in Birmingham, Al. She has been asked to be a hostess for her cousin’s wedding. The original custom was for the 45 hostesses to donate $30.00 to the bride / groom for their choice of gifts. The bride sent soent out an email asking the hostesses to increase the donation to $50.00 since the cruise price went up to $2,250.00. I never heard of the practice of giving money like this and really became disturbed with the increase to pay for thier cruise. Have you ever heard of this and do you think it is right?

gee…I wish that custom was popular here. How great it must be to have your friends and family pay the cruise.

I have also never heard of this, but I think it is a Southern thing. I do think it was rude of the bride to ask for an increase. Everyone should only give what they can afford.

Hm, I’ve never heard of this either – seems strange that the bride can tell people what to give them..??

I have never heard of that it’s interesting. But i don’t think it’s right for them to ask to increase the amount.
