Bee here with a gorgeous black diamond ering here. Love it to bits, however I recently found some pits on the edges of the diamond, this is normal because natural black diamonds are hard to cut and pits just happens. However, it makes me worried that eventually the pits may expand and crack with wear. My diamond is on 4 prongs, and I think a bezel would help protect it better but it wouldn’t really go with the rest of the setting. Black diamonds still rank 10 on the Maid/Matron of Honor hardness scale, but natural black diamonds are more fragile because of all of their micro-inclusions that makes them black. The pits on my ring is barely noticable as I’ve had this ring since April and have now just noticed them.
Any bees out there with black diamonds (on prongs)? How do they hold up with against wear and tear against daily use? Does anyone have any advice for me?
