For the love of Satan, it’s overseas not oversees!
And yes, we are quite civilized in the UK, and I can guarantee that customs won’t give a flying f**k about your Louis Vuitton.
I’ve travelled with mine all over the world for more than a decade and never had a problem anywhere.

You will not have any trouble with customs. I regularly buy LV overseas (from Paris, ireland, and Switzerland) and bring it back home no problems. You are allowed $800 of goods, and most pepole would not guess that the bag is over $800 even if they did know you bought it overseas.

I’ve never heard this from anyone. Ever. I have been out of the country 5 times this year alone with designer bags and no one has even looked at them. You really think these (mostly) men working a desk at customs know a high end bag? LOL. They’re behind a desk on a stool, they can’t even see what I am carrying. No one cares about a bag.

You are most likely going to a developed country, I don’t see how having a designer bag will make you a target? I lived in the UK for quite some time and travelled with an LV suitcase and can’t say it ever held me up in customs. Nor was I ever robbed for carrying a designer bag.

Sorry, I meant overseas. I completely agree with what you have to say. However, it is annoying because ever since my Darling Husband and I said we are going to London and Paris a particular family friend has been hounding me about this bag issue. I never once thought it would be an issue until I was being lectured about the matter. She actually is telling my Mother-In-Law to remind me NOT to bring it!
Exactly! I highly doubt the people at the airport care about a woman’s purse! I just needed reassurance.

I travel extensively to the UK and EU. I have never had a problem with my Birkin, Louis, or Chanel bags. Not with customs, and not with anyone else. Nobody’s bugged me, questioned me, followed me, etc.

Your friend has no idea what she’s talking about. Never, ever had a problem with my couture bags in decades of routinely traveling overseas,

Are you traveling with stuff in your bag? If so, no receipt required. I mean .. bump that.. don’t bring a receipt period.. it sounds kind of riduculous (customs doesnt have time to price out your belongings in or outside of your suitcase)
